Here You have 4 Cultural differences between Italy and the United States at the restaurant. These tips will help you avoid misunderstanding and not make you look like a tourist so take notes! 1. In Italy, bread does not come with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.   2. Water is not from the tap and it’s not complimentary. Usually, the waiter will ask if you want ”Acqua Naturale o Frizzante?’’ Meaning still or sparkling.  3. Don’t expect the waiter to bring you the check until you ask. Receiving the check without asking is seen as a sign of disrespect. It’s like being thrown out of the restaurant. 4. Tips are not obligatory/expected in Italy. There is no such thing as a percentage on the check that goes to the waiter, but if you got good service, tip your waiter.            Do you know any other culture shocks?
